Evora evolves Further

Source From: Star Motoring

Shortly after the Malaysian launch of the Evora, we are now told Lotus will be showcasing two new variants.
Say hello to the Evora S and Evora IPS (Intelligent Precision Shift).
Lotus has taken the award-winning Evora and re-created it with a 350hp 3.5l V6 engine to create the Evora S.

Lotus CEO Dany Bahar said: "You don't realise what you are missing from your driving experience until you get behind the wheel of the Evora S." So apart from the obvious power difference, how is the Evora S different from the standard Evora?

"It's the next level of Evora experience. It communicates with you better, the suspension setting has been fine tuned for added power and control so it responds even more to direction.
"We were proud of the Evora but we're even prouder of the Evora S.  I feel like it does the true Lotus experience justice. The really great thing is that as we move forward, the standard Evora should also benefit from some of these developments."
The Evora S comes with a sport pack as standard featuring a ‘sport' button which allows the driver to control throttle response and activate the exhaust by-pass valve.

The sport button also raises the instantaneous rev limit and changes the dynamic stability control settings resulting in a total experience change.

There are cross-drilled brakes for improved cooling. And here's a heads-up for those who buy into the old adage ‘you can tell the men from the boys by the size of their toys': the external emotion of the Evora S has been improved with a completely new active exhaust which means that at the push of a button the car sounds just as dramatic as it feels.

Commenting on the Evora S, Lotus chief commercial officer Andreas Prillmann said: "The Evora S is a natural progression for us but more than that, it's a taste of what people can come to expect from the next generation of Lotus cars. It retains core Lotus values such as performance through lightweight but it also gives more than that. It's the perfect combination of top performance, style and comfort. Form doesn't sacrifice function in the case of the Evora S."
The IPS (Intelligent Precision Shift) option sees an automatic 6-speed gearbox with Lotus developed transmission control with a 3.5 l V6 engine delivering 280hp, assuring a superior automatic driving experience.
The IPS version of the Evora allows the driver to switch between manual paddle shift and automatic drive modes.

The driver also has the option of selecting ‘sport' mode which showcases the Lotus sporty driving experience, allowing the driver to really feel each gear shift and be in complete control of the transmission.
Commenting on the development Bahar said: "The IPS is set to broaden the appeal of the Evora and reach out to a slightly different market. We hope it will be popular with established automatic locations such as Asia, the Middle East and the United States.

"It's been a long time since Lotus created an automatic and we've spent a great deal of time refining this one to make sure that it perfectly complements the Evora drive experience."
The two models will share the limelight at the Paris Motor Show on Sept 30.

World’s 1st Diesel full Hybrid vehicle

Source From: Star Motoring

The Peugeot 3008 Crossover, with HYbrid4 technology, is the first diesel ‘Full Hybrid’ production car in the world
By launching the world’s first diesel full hybrid vehicle – the 3008 HYbrid 4 – Peugeot will be writing a new chapter in motoring history.

Peugeot said the combination of a fuel efficient 2.0 litre 163bhp HDi diesel engine and a 37bhp electric motor is the optimal combination for a hybrid vehicle.

Unlike previous hybrid vehicles which have chosen to use a less fuel efficient petrol engine, the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4’s diesel engine provides superior Combined Drive Cycle fuel consumption of 74.4mpg, and CO2 emissions of 99g/km. The use of diesel hybrid technology also brings a range of other benefits:
>High performance combined with excellent driveability
>Freedom and simplicity of use with the possibility of choosing four different operating modes: ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle), Four-wheel drive, Auto and Sport
>Silent operation, when driving in electric only mode
>Peace of mind offered by the safety inherent in a four-wheel drive vehicle
>Environmental friendliness with CO2 emissions from 99g/km
In terms of performance, the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 benefits from the combined power of the HDi diesel engine and electric motor during acceleration and when an immediate surge of power is required (the “boost” function).
The maximum combined power output is 200bhp, 163bhp from the 2.0 litre HDi FAP diesel engine and 37 bhp from the electric motor.

A maximum torque of 500 Nm is available, split with 300Nm at the front from the HDi diesel engine and 200 Nm at the rear generated by the electric motor.

How the New CLS Looks

Source From: Star Motoring

Mercedes-Benz has put to rest speculations about how the second-generation CLS-Class would look like.

It has just posted up photos of the new CLS ahead of its world  premiere at the Paris motor show (Oct 2 – 17).

The proportions remain as usual:  long hood, tightly-styled frame-less side windows and a roofline sweeping back at an angle towards the rear.

Muscular ripples in the CLS sheetmetal.

The four-door coupé  carved out  a new category when it was introduced in 2003. Though the proportions are the same, the second generation of this design trendsetter has a completely new look.

What immediately strikes the eye is the innovative front design, which looks like the SLS AMG. Visually, the radiator grille is not integrated into the hood but formed separately. This further highlights the long, sporty hood.

The car will also have full LED headlamps, which are the world's first to offer all of the dynamic light functions using LED technology.

Mercedes-Benz's press statement left out the numbers but speculations in the motoring frat are that an all-new direct-injected 3.5-litre V6 will be the entry level in the CLS350.

The CLS550 models is expected to feature a twin-turbo 4.6-litre V8 that will produce 430hp and 700Nm of torque. You can bet your last dollar a tricked-out AMG version will not be far behind.

Car Bed

Source from: Star Motoring

Hoteliers come up with all sorts of ways to attract people to stay at their hotels.

In Stuttgart, home of Porsche, there is a rather unusual hotel that caters to car buffs.

The V8 Hotel offers 34 rooms with unique car themes, so you can actually opt to sleep in a full-size bed carved out of a Morris Minor, a Cadillac or a Mercedes-Benz.

Cosy up in a Beetle after a long drive. - Photos by V8 Hotel

The reception and restaurant are also emblazoned with car themes, so there's no running away from the fact that this place pays homage to car culture.

The rooms at the four-star hotel go for 380 euros (RM1,560) per night and include a Zeppelin Suit, which features a terrace, landscaped views and full sauna.

The building where the German hotel is located was the city’s old airport and has three levels of suites in what used to be the control tower.

A stone's throw away is the Meilenwerk car dealers hub and automotive museum, so inspiration and parts are never far away for the next V8 Hotel room theme project.

According to an employee, the novelty of the V8 Hotel has drawn stayers from all walks of life and from all age groups. Even some locals choose to stay a night to sample the unique experience while "a few celebrities" had also been guests, he added.

"All kinds of people come here, so it's not just for car enthusiasts, but of course there are those that are interested in car history and the automobile industry's connections to the region too."

Perodua Service Centre

The board stated that the car can be done servicing within an hour or it's free. I guess this is some kind of joke. No one really bothers about it but it pissed me off because I waited for quite some time just to service a car at the Service Centre. First of all, the attitude of the staff that works for Service Counter at the Front Desk does not know how to greet or talk clearly during the process of servicing the car. I wonder what's the difference with a customer that booked for a service and customer just walk in and service their vehicle because I just can't see any difference with that where I have to wait till my turns come and I have to wait for 30 minutes before seeing the car start to move into the service centre. The management should have enforce their 5S which is Sort, Straighten, Sweep, Schedule & Sustain to keep it a smooth running situation and saves time and money.

As you can see from the title above, I'm referring to:-

Perodua Sales SDN. BHD (Service & Parts Centre )
Lot 11 Jalan 19/1 Petaling Jaya
46300 Selangor
Telephone No.: 03-79571776 / 03-79553341
Fax: 03-79576601
As you can see from the picture above, this is the Entrance and also Exit of the Service Centre where the worker will drive in and out from there but I can just see that it's always congested and they don't have a proper or large pathway for cars to pass through. I have seen the process of them driving the car in a very tight space and it nearly scratch both the cars that parked to service. I can't imagine how things work for them and I think they should fix on that.

Places nearby to this Service Centre is TOC ( The Otomotif College ), Forum 19 Foodcourt, Rothman's Roundabout, BAT Factory and etc.

Just a Pose

This picture is taken from the Last row where I can fit 3 person on it without having a hard time and the 2nd row is comfortable yet it's like sitting on a 1st class airplane.

Took from the Rear where the Seats at the 3rd row are not yet taken down.

This is the walkway where the driver from the front can actually walk to the back with the space within. A new concept whereby the driver don't have to open the door in order to reach the back seats.

If you want to have a larger boot space then the seats can be folded up and the seat from 2nd row can be pushed even further to make a bigger Boot where you can have plenty of space without a headache.

Driver View Dashboard shoot, it has a 2 layer of dashboard as you can observe from here. The 1st is with the Speedometer and the 2nd is below the Radio and it has a compartment for people to placed their belongings there.

The Gear lever is designed to be with the dashboard for a easy and convenient shifting when the arm rest from the Driver seat is placed down and you can actually drive in a relax manner without any strange feel.

The Latest Speedometer by Honda where it is a Eye friendly for everyone because the figure and objects shown in the Meter can be easily seen even though if there's a hot sun striking from above and it's not too bright even when a person drive during the night time.

Room Light

Side panel where it has a Auto flip Side mirrors, Fog light Switch,  Automated Opening and Closing both the Rear Side doors, and last but not least the Mirror adjuster.

The speedometer is engaged when the keys area  plugged in.

This is the Air Condition panel right below of the dashboard where everything is in a user friendly form so no one can actually make a mistake in tuning the temperature and the blower. Besides that, it is equipped with a heater where you can tuned the temperature above 30 and the air starts to turn hot though.

The nice and clean Engine Bay equipped with the Honda i-VTEC technology.

The miniature Honda Freed for giveaway.

Last but not least and it's me having a shoot with the famous Automotive blogger, Paul Tan.

Review of the New Honda Freed :-

Honda has officially come out with their New model which is Honda Freed. From my point of view, I really feel the comfort yet noiseless environment even though I am driving it in a high speed due to the High Regidity Structure of the Chassis Shape, it provides better handling yet stability and that's not all, the Front suspension is equipped with McPherson Strut with Stabilizer and the Rear Suspension is equipped with H-Shape Torsion Beam. Besides that, Honda Freed has a Small turning radius where I can manoeuvre it easily even though I am having a narrow road ahead or parking the car. There's a feature called the Active Lock-Up System where it provides a better feel during a drive and it's active lock up system shortens the real time exchange of gears and that ensures the responsive acceleration. It also helps by reducing the noise and overall transmission movement. Honda Freed have a  5 Speed Automatic Transmission driven by wire where it is the latest  throttle technology whereby the Freed is Driven By Wire functions as well as a smooth shifting 5-gear automatic transmission. This helps to keep the engine range within its most efficient speed yet offering a quiet cruising, better fuel efficiency and acceleration.

Honda Freed offers a big area of space where you can utilize almost every area you can see in the car such as the walk through cabin where the first two rows is using four captain seats and it creates a 200mm of walkway for easy access while the theatrical tiered seating position increased visibility for all passengers in the first two rows. Besides the spacious walkway, the flat roof & flat floor concept creates a more cabin space and head room and this concept is achieved through the use of an ingeniously build under floor fuel tank. For a more spacious cargo, the third row has foldable seats which is can be folded easily in just 3 steps and with the foldable concept, it creates a larger cargo capacity to accommodate with various modes to suit your needs.

Time for some observation from the dashboard and controls, Honda Freed comes with a Tilt Steering where it steers without compromising on positioning. The Multilayer Meter Cluster provides an animated displays like bar graphs and meters that communicate all information such as fuel level and mileage throughout the journey that you have driven it. On the other hand, The double din Stereo can plays CD, Radio, and also MP3 in a player that can now play music from a USB so there's no need to have a modulator or a brand new Head unit just to play the song in USB. Thus, Honda Freed comes with a Foot Parking Brake and it's placed neatly at the lower left side of the driver seat where the Foot Braking is just so convenient for a car like Freed.

Honda does not focus on the fuel efficiency and the performance of the car but it also have high priority in the safety such as providing an anti pinch sensor that detect obstacles during closing operation to avoid any accident or injury during the closing of the automatic sliding door. Besides that, to have an auto locking fuel lid, these are just some of the reasons that Honda Freed can truly claim to have all angles covered. After all, it did garner a 6-star JNCAP ( Japan New Car Assessment Program )  rating. Besides having an anti pinch sensors, it also have shock absorbing hood & hinge structure, shock absorbing hood, shock absorbing fender and also shock absorbing bumper. That's not all, Honda Freed do comes with ABS which is an Anti-Lock Brake System that stops the wheels from locking up. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) helps to evenly spread the braking  force to maintain stability. Brake Assist (BA) supplies even more brakeforce under emergency braking to bring the car to a safe stop. What I like about the Fuel Lid Auto Lock Safety System is a mechanism that prevents the sliding door from opening fully when the Fuel Lid is opened. Besides that, the Shift Hold Control & Grade Logic Control is stabilizing your vehicle or when we are taking a corner by holding a low gear is standard for the Freed, it even features Grade Logic Control for traversing hills. Last but not least to talk about safety issue about Freed, I would say that the G-Force  Control aka (G-CON) Technology do allows the vehicle to have a greater crash compatibility with other cars during because the G-CON chassis disperses crash impact over the frame of the body. It also has Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE). All of these provides a better safety to a car like Freed.
