Dear Readers,
Have you ever wonder what's the icy White/ Blue/ Turqoise thing on top of the battery terminal. This is what we call Corrosion.
Corrosion happens on the terminals due to the hydrogen gas being released from the acid in the battery. Do take note, chemical reaction do happens when the battery is heated up by charging and discharging when you starts the car. The mixes with other things/ particles from the atmosphere under the hood of the car produces this corrosion which you see it on the battery terminal.
Generally got this information from other source. If the corrosion is occurring on the negative terminal / -ve terminal, Your system is probably undercharging.
What's undercharging. Undercharging in a nut shell means that the car is less travel/ started. Therefore, the battery can't be charge and discharge in an optimum condition.
Let's cut the story short, I will give you a tips on getting rid of all this Corrosion build up on the battery terminal by just doing one thing and it will just take you less than 5 mins of your life.
Things to prepare:
1. [Optional] Damp cloth / unused cloth ( For Wiping purposes )
2. A jug of HOT water
Steps:
1. Pour the hot water directly onto the terminal which you see the corrosion build up.
2. Due to some OCDs, I will wipe it dry with the damp cloth which I have prepare, it's optional though as it will dry up quickly by time.
3. Just so if you have a WD40 which is a multipurpose lubricant, you can actually spray some on the terminal after getting everything done.
Thanks,
JLean
